Infection control is a two-way street in these changing times and we expect that our patients take it as seriously as we do. If you are sick or have had direct exposure to Covid, please let us know so we can find you another appointment time. The less that we expose each other the better we can help serve the Northern Michigan Communities.
Below are some of the systems that we have implemented to keep you safe: barriers to separate the front office from the entry, a new wall to separate our operatories, intraoral high volume suction, hyperHepa filtration in every operatory, new heating and air-conditioning system that kills viruses.
Here At Dr. D Scott Eaton DDS, we take infection control and your comfort very seriously that is why we use the isolite and isovac system from Zaris. This system provides continuous saliva evacuation, tongue retraction, a bite block for your comfort, and shadowless illumination.
Coming in contact with aerosols has been in the news a lot lately, we are committed to eliminating aerols in our office. When aerosols are created by high-speed handpieces, ultrasonic scalers, and other instruments, the "spray" not only carries particles of water but also bacteria, viruses, blood, and saliva. These aerosols can contain up to 100,000 bacteria per cubic foot of air. One of the most important things we can do to protect you and ourselves is to reduce airborne particles. With the isolite and isovac system, we reduce aerosols by 90% over High volume vacuum and a rubber dam or high volume vacuum alone which reduces exposure to bacteria and airborne pathogens.
A better way to provide suction, with a built-in bite block to provide comfort results in faster procedures and less time in the dental chair for you.

On top of that in all of our operatories, we utilize hyperHepa air filtrators that filter the air in each operatory every 9 minutes and we have the capability to filter our air every 3.5 minutes. Our IQAir HealthPro Series featuring HyperHEPA filtration technology is superior for airborne particle removal. IQAir's HyperHEPA filtration is tested and certified by an independent third-party lab to effectively filter 99.5% of harmful ultrafine pollution particles down to 0.003 microns in size. This is 100 times smaller than what is achieved with ordinary air filtration technology and 10 times smaller than a virus. These air filters are Swiss made and specially designed for the dental office. These are the same units that were trusted in hospitals during the SARS outbreak of 2002 and Covid-19 of 2020.
In the past, restoring a tooth with a crown or an onlay (partial crown) would require two visits - normally with at least two weeks between appointments. Using sophisticated technologies D Scott Eaton DDS is able to restore your tooth with a crown or onlay in just a single appointment. This can be accomplished in as little as two hours. Step 1: Dr. D Scott Eaton DDS will prepare your tooth and capture a 3D digital scan of your mouth. Step 2: Specialized software is used to create a digital blueprint of your dental crown. Step 3: While you wait, your crown is sculpted from a block of tooth-colored, metal-free material. Step 4: Dr. Eaton will bond your custom-made crown onto your tooth. That means no more second appointments, no more messy impressions, and no temporary restorations. Your tooth and smile are restored today.
